The story behind the name
In the Ruined Realms, a Rip in the Veil is thin as a hairline crack in reality: subtle enough to walk right past. Beyond it lies the Under, a world just beside our own.
Once you’ve seen one, you always will.
The publishing house takes its name from that hidden world. The Under is a home for stories that cross boundaries, unsettle comfortable realities and refuse to become smaller to fit where they’re placed.
What we believe
Stories may be dark without being empty.
Darkness should reveal something: desire, rage, power, grief, hope.
Worlds should feel lived in.
Magic doesn’t erase culture, history, language or consequence.
No story should have to shrink to become acceptable.
The Under exists for ambitious stories, complicated women and monstrous tenderness.
